Did you know millions of working days are lost due to work related illness including injuries?

A Labour Force Survey revealed 4.5 million days were lost due to workplace injuries alone over a 12 month period during which a total of 30.4 million working days were lost due to self reported work related illness and injury.

These sobering statistics, collated over the year 2015/16, demonstrate the physical and commercial cost to businesses and their workforce, highlighting the need to take health and safety seriously to protect workers from risks.

The Health and Safety Executive publishes annual statistics on health and safety in Great Britain including workplace injury and working days lost as a result of health and safety incidents.

Most recent revelations include there were 72,702 non-fatal injures to employees reported to employers during 2015/16 and 144 fatal injuries to workers were recorded during that timeframe.

It is estimated the annual costs of workplace injuries is several million pounds so providing the right safety work wear that complies with regulations is an important investment in the long run.
